Changes are coming soon for the digital platform gig economy and road transport industry.
We will soon have new functions relating to regulated workers.
Regulated workers are:
- 'employee-like' workers performing digital platform work, and
- regulated road transport contractors.
Our new powers start on a date to be proclaimed or from 26 August 2024.
They include:
- dealing with employee-like worker disputes about unfair deactivation from a digital platform
- dealing with unfair termination of contract disputes for regulated road transport contractors
- dealing with disputes about workplace delegates rights for regulated workers.
We will also have functions relating to regulated worker minimum standards.
These changes are the result of the Closing Loopholes No. 2 Act amendments to the Fair Work Act 2009.
